2020 Wild Orchids Forever Stamps 100pcs

Official Background

On February 21, 2020, the USPS released the Wild Orchids Forever stamps in Coral Gables, Florida, at the American Orchid Society Library at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. These stamps celebrate the exotic beauty of orchids native to the United States. Each stamp features a photograph of one of nine orchid species that grow wild in the U.S., showcasing their unique forms and vibrant colors.

The photographs were taken by Jim Fowler, a nature photographer and stamp collector. Art director Ethel Kessler designed the stamps.

Designs: Photographs of the following nine orchid species:

1. California lady’s slipper (Cypripedium californicum)

2. Spiked crested coralroot (Hexalectris spicata)

3. Showy lady’s slipper (Cypripedium reginae)

4. Marsh lady’s tresses (Spiranthes odorata)

5. Three birds orchid (Triphora trianthophoros) – featured twice

6. Greater purple fringed orchid (Platanthera grandiflora)

7. Yellow cowhorn orchid (Cyrtopodium polyphyllum)

8. Grass pink orchid (Calopogon tuberosus)

9. Prairie white fringed orchid (Platanthera leucophaea)
