On October 25, 2019, the USPS released the Holiday Wreaths Forever stamps in Freeport, Maine, at the L.L.Bean flagship store. These stamps celebrate the holiday season with four new designs inspired by early American wreath traditions. Each stamp features a photograph of a different wreath, symbolizing joy and celebration, inviting the spirit of the season into homes. The wreaths were designed by former White House chief floral designer Laura Dowling and photographed by Kevin Allen. Art director Antonio Alcalá oversaw the project.
The four wreath designs are:
-
A ribbon leaf wreath inspired by French floral art, crafted from aspidistra leaves folded to resemble ribbons.
-
A wreath adorned with gilded pinecones and magnolia pods, trimmed with cranberry red ribbon.
-
A wreath made from gilded dried hydrangea, eucalyptus, and nandina foliage, accented with red berries, small ornaments, and red and gold ribbon.
-
A woodland bush ivy wreath featuring red winterberries, presenting a classic red and green palette.
